When I think of Lina, I think of her time with ACORN, and her passionate committment to both organizing and art. She brought together what is good, as the poem states: both bread and roses.

"Yes, it is bread we fight for -- but we fight for roses, too!"

Hey Uncle Craig, Chloe and Moriah--
I just wanted to say hi and let you know we're still thinking about you and praying for you and missing you down here in Houston. It was so good to see you and we'll talk soon. Let me know if there's anything that I can do to help with anything.
Love,
Aja

I am holding you Craig, and Chloe and Moriah close in my heart. I never knew Lina but I wish I had. I am sorry that you had to lose her too soon. Thank-you for Common Dreams which I read all the time and for which I am so grateful.

Appreciating you,
Sheila

I am sending all my best wishes to Craig, Chloe, and Moriah, and all my wonderful memories of Lina from the Alliance for Cultural Democracy and the American Festival Project. Lina, for me is the person, who quietly and with great determination and creativity, made things happen. When there was inadequate daycare in Kentucky she led the movement to create a Montessori school. When we were overwhelmed by work, she organized us to get it done. Lina set a powerful example of someone who refused to get bogged down with what was wrong, but had the vision, spirit, and will to create something new. She was a wonderful colleague and friend and an inspiring mother. I have only recently found her blog, but am so moved by Lina’s courage and the closeness of your family and friends. I will cherish her memory and continue to gain strength from her creative force.
