Suddenly… On the Fast Track to Boston

March 2008

After 2 weeks of uncertainty, e-mails today from our nurse/caseworker at Dana Farber inform us that because of scheduling challenges (i.e. too many people battling cancer), I will probably be admitted quite soon – probably Friday, March 14th… and that they’d like my donor/brother Mark to fly to Boston from San Francisco by Sunday, March 9 – in three days! Plans are suddenly on the fast track. My doctors wanted to move fast but – much of the long waiting/scheduling uncertainty was because Anthem/Blue Cross was really slow in agreeing to pay for the transplant. Today they finally gave the OK.

Oh, Lina, I’m so glad to hear about you and of your strength. (I never doubted… have witnessed your strength in other venues for sure). I have thought of you so much these past years and months but didn’t know how to ask? This is a wonderful forum and I will be checking on you every day. I will email you our update as we have made major changes in our life. Hugs to you all and my prayers for your health during this next procedure, my friend.g Susan

Lina, I’m an old high school friend of Craig’s. He’s shared your story with me and at my inquiries kept me updated through this terrible struggle you’ve been facing. It’s wonderful to finally “hear” your voice, your courage, your resolve. Although we’ve never met, you’re in my prayers constantly. Extra ones for you and your brother as you go to Boston for this newest hope.
    Blessings, Nan

All of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Lina, we’re sending white light your way and hoping that the stem cell transplant goes well.
    Much love to you,
    Joan and Michael
